I. The Annunciation
The Angel Gabriel announces the coming of Jesus to Mary
|
Then a shoot shall grow from the stock of Jesse, and a branch shall spring from his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him. Isaiah 11:1-2
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Hail, O favored one, the Lord is with you!" But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. Luke 1:26-31

Our Father…
Purify our conscience, Almighty God, by your daily visitation, that your Son Jesus Christ, at his coming, may find in us a mansion prepared for himself; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (BCP collect 4th Sunday in Advent)

Ave Maria
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. (11th century) Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen. (15th century)

The Angelus
The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary. And she conceived by the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary …
Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your word. Hail Mary … And the Word was made flesh. And dwelt among us. Hail Mary … Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Pour forth, we beseech you, O Lord, you grace into our hearts: that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ you Son was made known by the message of an Angel, may by his passion and cross be brought to the glory of his Resurrection, through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen
